The Canadian Dove Association’s 27th Annual Show & Sale was held on November 24th, 25th, and 26th, 2006 in the Oxford Auditorium on the Woodstock, Fairgrounds in conjunction with the 36th Specialty Pigeon Show. This year the weather was bright and balmy when compared to the snow that we had in 2005. Again there were numerous fanciers visiting the dove section, and we were kept busy answering questions about raising domestic doves and foreign pigeons.

This year we had 13 Ring Neck Doves shown in 11 different mutations; 17 Diamond Doves shown in 8 different mutations; 8 Doves were shown in the section for Senegal Doves and Smaller in 5 species, and 5 Doves were shown in 5 species in the section of the show for Doves Larger than Senegal Doves.

The Champion Dove was an Old Male Red Diamond Dove shown by Shirley Becker, Bayfield, Ontario. The Reserve Champion Dove was an Old Male Band-tailed Pigeon shown by Wiebe Horinga, Woodstock, Ontario. A Young Male Blue W-T/W-R Diamond Dove won the Bill and Jane Jansen Memorial Award as the Best 2006 Dove in the show for Shirley Becker. In the Junior Section of the show, Hunter and Axel House, Innerkip, Ontario won Champion Junior Dove with an Old Female White Ring Neck Dove.

The Best Ring Neck Dove was the Young Female Orange Pearled shown by John House, and the Reserve Ring Neck Dove was an Old Female Orange also shown by John House.

Best Diamond Dove was an Old Male Red shown by Shirley Becker, and the Reserve Diamond Dove was a Young Male Blue W-T/W-R also shown by Shirley Becker.

Best Dove in the section for Senegal Doves and Smaller was an Old Male Masked Dove shown by John House, and the Reserve in this section was an Old Male Senegal Dove also shown by John House.

Best Dove exhibited in the section for Doves Larger than Senegal Doves was an Old Male Band-tailed Pigeon shown by Wiebe Horinga, Woodstock, Ontario, and the Dove selected as the Reserve in this section was an Old Male Bar-shouldered Dove also shown by Wiebe Horinga.

This year our judges were Bernie van Erp, Parkhill, Ontario, and Ken Becker, Bayfield, Ontario, clerking for them was Rose Marie van Erp, Parkhill, Ontario, and Bernie van Erp was our auctioneer. The Association would also like to say "Thank You" to these members, and to the suppliers and members who donated items of interest for the auction, which raised $236.00. Thank you for your generous support and contributions! After the show and sale on Saturday afternoon, we gathered at the Copa-Cabana Steak House for dinner, and the presentation of the show awards.
